This Body

This body - this temple of the Holy Spirit - carries me.

For 10 months, on no account of my own, even in my sickness, even in my disbelief, my body stretches, grows, accommodates, and produces everything my baby needs to be sustained.

It’s a true miracle.

For 10 months, on no account of his own, this baby receives, absorbs, transitions and connects his body to mine.

For just this time, it’s us and Holy Spirit. It’s divine guidance from our Heavenly Father.

We widen together, we shift, rock and ride the waves of nausea and uncertainty to the shores of peace.

We clench, we release, we know each other.

This body. This baby and me.
